Purpose:

To be part the nursing team whose aims are to ensure that clients nursing, personal and psychological need are met on a daily basis. 

Duties:

Working within Aster Healthcare's policies and procedures:

  • To assist clients in washing, dressing and undressing.
     
  • To participate in the basic nursing care of the clients, under the supervision of the Senior carers and the Trained staff e.g. bed bathing, mouth care, eye care and pressure area care
     
  • To assist the clients with their toileting needs, including continence promotion
     
  • To maintain good relationships with other professionals visiting the Home
     
  • To change beds, tidy clients rooms To empty and clean commodes and wheelchairs ensuring they are labelled with the clients name Ensuring clients have their call bell at all times in order to summon aid
     
  • To assist with problems of mobility, including the use of mobility aids, where appropriate
     
  • To help in serving drinks and meals, assisting those clients who are unable to feed themselves and ensuring that each resident receives their  particular diet ,noting down when required how much food or drink has been consumed
     
  • To help with the admission and discharge of clients, including listing their property and clothing Listing any property and clothing as it is brought into the Home during their stay
     
  • To convey relevant information about the client to the Senior Nurse on duty, in order that the individual plan of care may be regularly updated and appropriate care given
     
  • To attend staff, clients and relatives meetings as requested by Registered Nurse
     
  • To help maintain a safe environment for staff, clients and visitors through awareness of Fire and Health & Safety policies and by undertaking training as required
     
  • To attend appropriate training as notified by the Deputy Manager
     
  • To observe urine, faeces, vomit and sputum and report any concerns to the Senior Nurse on duty
     
  • To assist with activities
     
  • To assist with weighing clients
     
  • To maintain confidentiality with regard to clients
     
  • To answer the telephone, taking clear messages and informing the Senior Nurse on duty immediately
     
  • To report immediately to the Senior Nurse on duty any accident or untoward incident which may occur to clients or staff.
